Squashed Apples
Cuisinart Original RecipeIngredients
2 medium apples
4 ounces butternut squash purée
Instructions
Place apple cubes in a steamer basket to fit a 3- to 4-quart saucepan filled with one inch of water (or unsweetened apple juice). Place a tight fitting lid on pan and place over high heat. When liquid comes to a boil turn heat down to medium. Steam fruit for 15 minutes, until extremely soft.
Place steamed fruit with squash purée in the work bowl of Cuisinart® food processor fitted with metal chopping blade. Process for about 30 seconds. Scrape work bowl.
Process for 10 more seconds. Allow mixture to cool. Store in refrigerator in airtight container for up to 3 days or fill ice cube trays or othercontainers to freeze.
