Homemade Burgers
User Submitted RecipeIngredients
4 pounds ground beef (sometimes I toss in some organic ground buffalo)
1 large onion, finely chopped
4-8 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup finely chopped veggies of your choice (bell peppers and zucchini work well)
1/2 cup random sauces
1 egg
1/2 to 1 cup bread crumbs
Instructions
I start a big bowl of random sauces. Worcestershire, mustard, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce even salsa works well. I use this as an opportunity to finish off any little bottle of sauce that is cluttering my fridge. Get creative... but not TOO creative.
Chop some veggies. Onions are a must, green peppers work well. I have even tossed fresh chopped spinach in my burgers. Chop finely and sauté with a little olive oil until cooked through.
Mix everything together - sauce, veggies, meat egg. Work through with your hands and add breadcrumbs as needed if you have accidentally over-sauced your mixture.
Now you are ready to form your burgers. I make mine about an inch thick and rather wide. They plump when you grill them. 4 pounds of meat makes a LOT of burgers so these are great for leftovers or a party. Enjoy!
