Gado Gado

Spinach leaves
Shredded lettuce
Green beans
Boiled potatoes
Bean sprouts
Hard boiled eggs
Fried tofu

For the sauce:
Chopped onion
Lemon juice
Peanut butter


Gado Gado
In Indonesia, gado means vegetable. Gado gado is vegetables. Gather an assortment of veggies, both raw or lightly cooked, and place in a salad bowl. Your selection might include spinach leaves, cucumbers, shredded lettuce, green beans, carrots, boiled potatoes, bean sprouts, hard boiled eggs, fried tofu etc.
To make the sauce: Sauté 1 cup of chopped onion and 6 cloves of minced garlic in 3 tablespoons of oil. Stir in 1 cup of boiling water, 2 cups of crunchy peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon Tabasco, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger. Cook sauce over medium heat until hot and the peanut butter is melted. Gradually stir in 3 cups of milk. Serve the sauce over the veggies.
