Moms Meat Loaf


2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
3/4 cup onion, minced
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 pounds ground chuck
2 tablespoons bottled horseradish
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon dry mustard
Dash Worcestershire
1/2 cup ketchup


Preheat your oven to 400°.

In a large bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, ground chuck, horseradish, salt, milk, 1/4 cup ketchup, dry mustard, and Worcestershire; blend well with your hands.

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place in either a glass baking dish, or a meat loaf/bread pan.

Spread the remaining 1/2 cup ketchup over the loaf. If you have the desire, you can cut cross-hatches into the loaf (don't know what benefit that has, but it makes for a prettier meat loaf ).

Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.
