Shepherd's Pie

This is an American version of an English Shepherd's pie."


1 lb ground beef
10.75 ounce can Campbell's Golden mushroom soup
14.5 ounce can whole kernel corn
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 cups mashed potatoes


Heat oven to 350 degrees
Brown ground beef & drain fat.
Mix ground beef with 1 can of Golden Mushroom soup(undiluted)
Place ground beef in 9 x 13 glass baking dish.
Layer 1/2 cup cheddar cheese over beef mixture.
Drain can of whole kernel corn and discard liquid.
Layer drained corn over beef and cheese mixture then layer 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.
Make four cups mashed potatoes. (I use real mashed potatoes by mashing 6 - 8 peeled & boiled red potatoes.) As an alternate you can use instant mashed potatoes.
Layer mashed potatoes on top of beef, cheese & corn mixture.
Sprinkle remaining cheese over top.
Bake for 25 - 30 minutes in 350 degree oven until mixture becomes bubbly and cheese is melted.
Let sit 5 minutes.
