1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Cloves
Dash of salt
6 cups peeled, cored, thinly sliced Fuji Apples. (a naturally sweet apple)
Prepare bottom crust for a 9" pie
Use the following in place of top crust:Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup firm buttor or margarine and 1/2 cup of brown sugar (Packed) Using a pastry blender mix the ingredients until crumbly. Spread evenly over top of apple pie filling.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
use a 2=3 inch strip of aluminum foil to place around the crust edge; it'll keep it from burning. Then during last 10 minutes of baking remove this foil edging. This will be approximately 40-50 min. after being in oven. Then lay a piece of aluminum foil over the top of pie for final ten minutes of bakin. Best served warm with sweet cream poured over it, or vanilla ice cream on top.
