Ingredients

1C molasses
2 tsps licorice root powder
2 tsps anise extract
1/2 tsp black food coloring
2 tsps powdered, flavorless gelatin
2C flour

Instructions

Combine ingredients in Cuisinart and mix until you get a texture you can work by hand. It should not be sticky.

roll by hand into ropes.

Place ropes on parchment or wax paper to dry for eight hours.

Cut into one inch pieces and allow to dry for another day or two.

when it is very dry, store in a jar with a lid.

You can vary the flavor to suit your own taste.
