Grandma's Mint Bars

www.simplefoodhealthylife.com
There is nothing that reminds me of my childhood more than these mint bars. I have seen them in various forms over the past years but this recipe is my family's. It is the love that my grandmother poured into making these every year, and the knowledge that christmas time wasn't complete without them. It is the old fashioned recipe card that my mom still has, written in my grandmother's handwriting, stained with the green food coloring used in the recipe. When the holiday season rolls around, there is a call out to my family members - who is going to make Grandma's mint bars this year? Who needs the recipe? These bars are the epitome of the holiday season: tradition, family, memories, remembering the one's we love, and the beauty of food as an item that binds all of those things together. They are decadent: chocolatey, minty, overly sweet and in just one word, perfect."
