Mandarin Orange Cake
User Submitted Recipe
“
This is an old family favorite recipe -- you don't really taste the mandarin oranges, but they give it an amazing sweetness. And it's definitely not the prettiest cake in the world, but once you try it, you won't want anything else!"
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges (drained)
3 tbs oleo
3 tbs milk
1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
Instructions
Mix all ingredients except oleo, milk and brown sugar. Beat about 2 minutes, or until thoroughly mixed. Pour into a lightly greased 8x8-inch pan. Bake at 350° (325° if glass dish is used) about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Boil oleo, milk and brown sugar. Pour over warm cake.
