English Trifle

Ingredients

large swiss roll or sponge cake
mandarin oranges-
large jello
custard
whipping cream -small container


Instructions

Cut the swiss roll in slices and arrange around the sides and across the bottom of a trifle bowl or glass straight sided bowl. If using sponge cut in half and spread some jam between the layers and then cut and arrange. Drain a can of mandarin orange sections and put on top of cake. Make jello, any flavor but if use orange or peach usually. You can use the fruit juice as part of the cold water. Pour over top of cake and put in fridge to set. Make a batch of Bird's custard not the sauce as it is too runny. Pour over jello. Whip cream and put on top. You can decorate if you like. You can substitute, fruit and jello flavors but I like the orange best.
