Ingredients

5 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
1cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 tablespoons dark karo
1 1/2 bags chocolate chip and 2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

stir together flour, baking soda and salt: set aside
beat butter and shortening on med. speed to blend.
add sugars and beat till fluffy.
add eggs, vanilla and karo and blend well.
add dry ingredients and beat till well combined.
add and blend, 1 1/2 packs of chocolate chips and 2 cups chopped nuts; optional
