Jim Orr's Microwave Pecan Praline Recipe


1/2 Lb. Brown Sugar
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Milk
3 Cups Pecans
1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
2 T. Butter


Using a large microwave cooking utensil, mix sugar and milk together until smooth. Microwave on high for approximately 13 mins. Note: use care! Mixture will foam over. You must carefully monitor the cooking, stirring down as needed. Microwave until mixture stops foaming over and then cook approximately one minute more. This cooking time will vary, depending on the particular microwave and the mixture, but following the above instructions will give the desired results.

Add pecans, vanilla and butter and blend in well. Microwave on high for about one and a half minutes more.

Let stand for a minute or so. Beat until mixture begins to thicken a little.

Working quickly, spoon onto wax paper. Mixture will begin to thicken a little

Let stand until hardened.
