Rhona's Homemade Mayonnaise Cake & Frosting

Cake:
2 cups flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup warm water
1 cup Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
1 tsp. vanilla
Frosting:
1 tbsp. heaping cornstarch
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
8 tbsp. Crisco shortening
8 tbsp. margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
Cake: Mix dry ingredients sifted, then add water, salad dressing and vanilla. Mix by hand. Bake in greased and floured 9x13 inch pan in oven on 350 degrees F. for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool completely - then frost.
Frosting: Cook milk and cornstarch on medium heat until thick, then cool in pan set in cold water stirring frequently. Add one cup sugar after cooled and stir. Beat together Crisco and margarine, then add cornstarch mixture and vanilla. Beat until smooth and thick. Frosting cake. Enjoy!
