Cherry Chocolate SweetheartsUser Submitted Recipe
1 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tsp maraschino cherry juice
Red food color
2 drops almond oil candy flavoring
2 ¼ cups flour
½ cup chopped candied red cherries
Candy hearts, or kisses
Decorator sugar (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter powdered sugar, add juice, food color, and flavoring, mix well. Add flour, mix well, and stir in cherries.
Roll into 1 inch balls, roll in decorator sugar. Bake 9-11 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Immediately on removal from oven, press heart/kiss into hot cookie. Then remove from cookie sheet to waxed paper to cool. The candies will soften from the heat of the cookie.
