Tomato Soup Cake

Moist, tangy and delicious any-time cake!"


2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 cup shortening
1 can condensed tomato soup
2 eggs
1/4 cup water


Preheat oven to 350F.
Mix all dry ingredients together until well-blended. Add shortening and tomato soup. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and water. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes more.
Pour into 13x9 inch cake pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Bake 25-30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Frost with cream cheese buttercream frosting.
