Best Breakfast Strata

The best of the brunch that you can make ahead of time and freeze. Great for company or make individual servings to treat yourself."

Ingredients

3 cups soft white bread - torn into small pieces, approx. 6 slices
2 1/2 cups milk
12 eggs
Salt & pepper to taste
8 tbsp butter
Lawry's seasoned salt
1 8oz pkg sliced Swiss cheese
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled


Instructions

Soak soft bread in crumbs for about 5 minutes. Drain the milk into a separate bowl. Add eggs and scramble. If desired, add salt and pepper to taste - be conservative.
In large frying pan melt 4 T. butter. Add eggs and cook until slightly thick. Stir in the soaked bread. Pour the mixture into a greased 12 x 8 baking dish.
Sprinkle with Lawry's seasoned salt. Cover with one layer of Swiss cheese.
In small bowl melt 4 T. butter. Add bread crumbs and bacon. Stir until well coated. Sprinkle onto of egg mixture.

Bake at 450 for 15 minutes; allow to set a few minutes before serving.

To freeze, assemble casserole, but do not bake. Wrap well and freeze; thaw in refrigerator before baking.
