Moist and Delicious CornbreadUser Submitted Recipe
1½ cup cornmeal
2 cups flour ( ½ white, ½ whole wheat pastry flour)
¼ cup brown sugar (not packed)
4 tsp. baking powder
1-15oz. can of creamed corn
1½ cups milk or soy milk
½ cup sour cream
¼ cup shortening
Mix flours, sugar and baking powder together. Add milk, sour cream and creamed corn to dry ingredients. Mix together. Mix in shortening. Add eggs one at a time.
Spray baking pan. Place batter into a 9x12 or large square baking pan.
Heat oven to 450 degrees and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
