Turkish CoffeeCuisinart Original Recipe
½ cup whole coffee beans
1 tablespoon whole cardamom pods, hulled, casings discarded
4 cups water
1 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
Place the coffee beans and cardamom seeds in the bowl of the Cuisinart Spice Grinder. Pulse 2 to 3 times, and then process until finely ground, about 30 seconds.
Pour the water into a small saucepan and place on the stove over high heat. Once the water comes to a boil, stir in the sugar until dissolved. Take the pan off the heat and gradually stir in the ground coffee/cardamom mixture.
Return pan to the stovetop and reduce heat to medium. Let coffee mixture come to a simmer and let cook for about 20 minutes, gently stirring the top 1/3 of the mixture to be sure not to scrape the bottom of the pan.
To serve, slowly and carefully pour coffee into demitasse cups. The coffee may be strained if desired.
