Jamaican Beef PattiesUser Submitted Recipe
1 cup bread crumbs
1 1/2 cups ground beef
1 tsp each black pepper and salt
1/4 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/2 tbsp scotch bonnet pepper diced
2 stalk scallion chopped
1 lg onion finely chopped
2 tbsp curry
1 tsp soy sauce
1/4 beef stock
2 tbls butter
1/4 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp allspice
1 egg beaten
8 oz plain flour
1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
Pinch of salt
4 oz cold butter, cut into small cubes
1/2 egg, lightly beaten, to glaze
Sauté scallion, onions, ginger, thyme, pepper in a frying pan with butter.
Add beef mince in frying pan and fry until mince is cooked.
Add scotch bonnet, pepper, soy sauce, sugar, salt, coriander, curry, beef stock, allspice and bread crumbs. Place filling in a food processor.
Ensure that the beef is wet when placing it on the patty crust.
Place at least 3 tablespoons of filling on each circle then fold and crimp
with a fork the corners.
Brush a small amount of egg on each pattie.
Put the flour, turmeric and salt in a bowl and rub in the butter. Add 4-5 tbsp milk and mix. Roll into a ball and chill for 30 mins.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cook till lightly brown
