Summer weddings are certainly getting hotter and hotter. With the beautiful weather, photography, food and décor are sure to stand out. When planning a wedding during this season, it’s important to think about what kind of foods and drinks will keep your guests refreshed and ready to celebrate. There are many wonderful flavors that are perfect for summer. In this guide we will walk you through some delicious summer wedding menu ideas.
For a summer signature drink, cool cocktails are the way to go. A great drink that incorporates the tastes of refreshing fruits is sangria. It’s also a fun idea to incorporate your favorite summer colors such as pink with watermelon-tequila cocktails or yellow with lemon drop martinis.
Refreshing Hors D’oeuvres
Make sure to bring in the refreshing flavors of fruits and vegetables with your hors d’oeuvres. Bruchetta with yellow and grape tomatoes, summer rolls, watermelon and feta bites, and grilled shrimp with lemon juice are all good ideas. This is also a great place to play with summer colors with foods such as salsas.
When we think of summer we think of backyard barbecues and fun fairs with food stands you can’t resist. Why not bring those ideas into your wedding? You want to go for lighter options like fish, shrimp and chicken, all of which are great off the grill. Summer salads, potato salad and sweet corn are tasty, light and summery side dishes that may fit well with your main course.
Instead of traditional butter cream this is the perfect place to add fruit fillings. Another idea is to go with a summery cake flavor like lemon. If you love chocolate, a chocolate cherry filling cake is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The cake is the ideal spot for showing off your summer wedding colors and flowers as well.
