We adults love, love, love some yogurt! Yogurt bars, yogurt smoothies, froyo. You name it! Things just taste so much better when made with delicious treats. Raising a foodie baby? Yogurt is certainly the snack to introduce. It’s not only tasty, but filled with all the good stuff baby needs to grow healthy and strong.
Yogurt is a great source of protein, calcium, vitamin B-2, vitamin B-12, potassium and magnesium. We can thank its milk origins for that. One of the most popular benefits of yogurt is probiotics, which is “good bacteria” that may help promote a healthy digestive system.
Your baby can discover the wonderful world of yogurt at about 6 months of age, when they start on solids. When starting out, do not serve baby flavored or sweetened yogurt. Instead, add fruits for natural sweetness.
Try this Fruits with Yogurt recipe with your Baby Food Maker & Bottle Warmer:
1/2 cup peaches, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 medium apple, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
200 ml water
1/2 cup plain yogurt
Put the peaches and apple into the work bowl fitted with the steam blade and cover bowl with lid. Add the water to the steam/bottle warming chamber and set the measuring cup in its place. Close the lid to lock and then turn the dial to steam. Once the light goes out indicating the steaming is complete turn the dial to chop. Pulse several times to break up and then process continuously until completely smooth, about 20 to 25 seconds. Add the yogurt and pulse to incorporate, about 8 pulses. Allow to cool before serving. If not using immediately, refrigerate for up to three days or freeze in individual portions for convenience.
