A Healthier Cup of Coffee
November 4, 2013 • Posted by Priya Koshy

For many of us, one of the highlights of the day is beginning the morning with a cup o’ joe. Some health and wellness gurus recommend skipping the coffee and starting the day off with warm water with a squeeze of fresh lemon. A refreshing choice, but a freshly brewed cup of coffee can be a hard addiction to break, and recent studies show that drinking 2-4 cups a day actually decreases your risk of diseases such as liver cancer.

Now you can boost the health benefits of your morning brew by adding a tropical twist - coconut oil! Coconut oil is source of essential fatty acids and also has been shown to help speed up your metabolism.

Here’s a simple and easy recipe:

Coconut Oil Coffee

1 cup fresh brewed coffee
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon half and half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Ground cinnamon or nutmeg

Prepare a fresh cup of coffee. When ready, blend coffee, coconut oil and vanilla on a high speed until frothy (about 20 seconds). Pour into a big mug and top with dash of ground cinnamon or nutmeg.

Perfect the taste of your favorite brew by getting your own Charcoal Water Filter to ensure a purer taste.
