Late Night Snacks to Keep your Guests Grooving

Flowers? Check.  Rings? Check.  Vows and Ceremony? Check, Check.  DJ? Check.  Entrees? Check!  You’re almost done with all the stressful planning, but here’s just one more thing to think about.  As we already know, food plays an important part in creating the right ambience for a wedding reception from the cocktail hour to the entrées to the dessert.  Serving snacks is becoming more popular at wedding receptions now and are a great way to keep your guests happy and energetic on the dance floor all night long!  The snacks you serve can range from some minor taste-bites for some extra crunch or they can become mini meals in themselves.  Try mixing it up between the filling snacks and those just meant for munching.

 

Popcorn/ Kettle corn

This can be a great late-night snack for your guests.  Serving a mix of both popcorn and kettle corn in paper cones makes it the perfect portable snack for everyone.

Mini Cheeseburgers

Bite-size cheeseburgers offer more of a filling punch than popcorn, so they are great for guests who burn their dinner faster while dancing their hearts out.  The bite-size portion is the key to making this the perfect late-night snack that won’t create a mess. 

Cookie table

Cookie tables have become more popular at weddings as part of the dessert menu.  It offers guests a wide variety of treats and allows them to get up for seconds (or thirds, but who’s counting?).  If you have a cookie table at your wedding, be sure to keep it full all throughout the night so your guests can get a little sugar rush to keep the party going.

Mac & Cheese

Ah, the classic Mac & Cheese.  Although it might seem inappropriate to serve at a wedding, by making homemade servings with nutty cheeses, like Gruyere, and serving it in little ramekins, this classic gets even classier.

Candied apples

There’s nothing wrong with candied apples, regardless of the time of year.  The sweet and tart mixture of apples and caramel is a treat that is sure to have everyone running for more.  If the sugar doesn’t keep them up, the tartness of the apple sure will.

Grilled Cheese sandwiches/Panini

I will admit—I love cheese.  The warm gooeyness of melted cheese between toasted bread just makes my heart flutter.  Although it isn’t the healthiest thing to serve, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser and give everyone that much needed energy boost.  Otherwise, you can also serve a different style Panini to fit your needs.

Meatballs

If served on toothpicks, meatballs can also provide a great source of protein and dance-worthy energy.  If you don’t want to serve plain meatballs, you can accompany them with little shots of marinara sauce or any other sauce you prefer.

Pita and Hummus

If you’re inspired by Mediterranean food, pita and hummus is a simple snack that is not only delicious, but also quite healthy.  If you’d like to make it a little fancier, add a slice of a roasted red pepper.  The roasted pepper offers a deep sweetness that adds depth to the pita and hummus combination.

Shots of Soup

Finally, thick and creamy soups can be another delicious option.  Instead of serving inconvenient bowls of soup, offer your guests individual shots.  Try a butternut squash soup or a split pea soup for times when it is cooler outside.  For summer nights, opt for cold soups like gazpacho or a chilled cucumber and basil soup.
