Cake In A Mug
January 15, 2014 • Posted by Ankita Satija

Sometimes after a long day, there’s nothing you crave more than a sweet bite that doesn’t take much effort to prepare. Usually, that involves reaching for a box of cookies or swiping a few chocolates. But sometimes you’re hankering for something a little richer, like cake. Sound like too much effort? Well, that’s just not true when you can easily bake one in the microwave.

Simply grab a coffee mug and a few cake ingredients to create your microwave masterpiece. Cook for three minutes, and you’re all set! Bonus: you can eat your cake straight from the mug, so don’t worry about cleanup time.

This recipe also makes for a cute gift! Put ingredients in a plastic bag, tie with a ribbon and place inside a pretty mug.

Intrigued? Here’s the formula for a chocolate-y concoction.

Makes 1 serving

1 Coffee Mug
2 tbl flour
4 tbl sugar
2 tbl cocoa
1 egg
3 tbl milk
3 tbl olive oil
3 tbl chocolate chips (optional)
small splash of vanilla

Put dry ingredients into mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla and mix again. Put the mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little and tip out onto a plate if desired.
