Foods for a Teething Baby

It’s not fun for anyone when there’s a teething baby in the house. Between the crying and many restless nights, all you and your baby want is to make the pain go away. Teething usually starts anywhere between 3 months to over a year, depending on how much of an early or late bloomer your child is, but it doesn’t have to be torture. Here are a few foods that may help soothe those growing pains:

Frozen Foods
Anything cold is sure to give your baby the relief it’s aching for and soothe their sore gums. Frozen bagels, bananas, sliced cucumbers, and even popsicles will do the trick and numb away the pain.

Chilled Purees
Chilled soft foods such as applesauce and yogurt also work well. The combination of soft and cold will be welcome, and it may be a better option for those who haven’t been introduced to solid foods yet.

Teething Biscuits
An alternative to cold foods are hard ones. If your baby is too sensitive to your frozen food offerings, try biscuits instead. Especially if your baby is old enough for solids, they’re great for gnawing then eating.

Natural Remedies
Besides consumption, there are a bunch of herbal options available. A slice of peeled gingerroot, almond extract, and a paste of ground cloves all have soothing properties when applied to your baby’s gums.
