CUISINART IS BRINGING TO THE
TABLE . . .
3.5-Quart Programmable Slow
Cooker
Food for Thought:
Preparing High-Quality Meals that Basically Cook Themselves
Home cooks are showing increased interest in more sophisticated cooking
techniques such as braising to create restaurant-quality meals at home. The
slow cooker offers a great solution for busy consumers looking to create specialty
dishes with ease. Home cooks can start a pot of Braised Veal Shanks or Pulled
Pork before work, and return home to mouth-watering dishes that are tender and
flavorful without any of the stress of making the meal after a long day at
work.
The Cuisinart Programmable Slow Cooker (model no. PSC-350) is a 3.5-quart unit designed with digital
technology and touchpad controls that make it easier for home cooks to create
everything from chicken cacciatore to cherry cobbler. Cuisinart's new slow
cooker has an oval ceramic cooking pot that can be removed from the base so the
dish can be prepared the night before, stored in the refrigerator and set to
cook the next morning. Once the dish has been cooked, it can be served in the
same pot at the kitchen table. The cooking pot is also stick-resistant and can
go directly into the dishwasher for easy cleanup.
Slow cooking utilizes low heat over a period of time to cook
ingredients while also blending flavors and spices. One of the advantages of
the slow cooking method is the ability to bring out the natural juices of
meats, poultry and vegetables, while sealing in the nutrients. It also does
wonders for long-simmered soups. Another nutritional benefit is the fact that
slow cooking requires little or no fat. In addition, the process allows
inexpensive cuts of meat to be tenderized effortlessly while cooking.
What to Look for When Purchasing
a Slow Cooker:
Convenience:
Whether entertaining or preparing everyday meals for the family, the
Cuisinart 3.5-quart slow cooker allows consumers to create a savory meal with
minimal time and effort. Its compact size makes the unit a comfortable addition
to any countertop, whether used as part of a buffet for entertaining or for
family dinners. The new slow cooker is easy to operate: consumers simply place
all the ingredients in the ceramic cooking pot, set the timer and go to work or
run errands before returning home to a hot meal. Cuisinart's slow cooker features a 24-hour digital countdown timer with
an LCD display that can be set in 30-minute increments. The slow cooker has
three cooking modes: Simmer, Low and High, and automatically shifts to a warm
setting when the cooking time ends. The special "Keep Warm" feature ensures
that food is kept at the proper serving temperature without continuing to cook
the ingredients.
Design:
Cuisinart's new slow cooker features brushed stainless steel housing
with black accents and chrome-plated cool-touch handles. It also comes with a
removable glass lid that has a stainless rim and chrome-plated knobs. The glass
lid seals in moisture during the cooking process and is dishwasher-safe. In
addition, the slow cooker has nonslip rubber feet for extra stability.
Other Features:
Cuisinart's programmable Slow Cooker includes a cooking rack for use
with ramekins or other bakeware, as well as a recipe book for both traditional
and gourmet creations. This new unit joins two other Cuisinart programmable
slow cookers: a 6.5-quart unit with an oval ceramic cooking pot, and a 4-quart
slow cooker with a round ceramic cooking pot.
