The Joys of Pizza: A Global Phenomenon

Americans eat approximately 100 acres of pizza each day or about 350 slices a second, according to pizzaware.com, an industry website that tracks sales and consumption of this popular food. In the U.S., 93% of Americans eat at least one pizza per month, but the popularity of pizza is a global phenomenon with pizza toppings often reflecting regional and cultural preferences. For example, in France a popular pizza combination is called the Flambé with bacon, onion and cream. In Russia, they serve pizza covered with “mockba,” a combination of sardines, tuna, mackerel, salmon and onions.

What to Look for When Purchasing a Pizza Oven:

Performance: 
The Cuisinart Pizza Oven features a preset baking temperature of 450 degrees; preheating the pizza stone for 30 minutes provides ample heat to cook a fresh pizza pie in minutes.   The end result is a pizza crust that strikes the perfect balance of being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.  Cuisinart’s new pizza oven will also accommodate frozen pizzas.

Convenience:
The pizza oven comes with professional quality accessories that make easy work of creating a fresh pie from scratch.

 

§         A pizza mesh is often used to achieve a round pizza shape.  It also prevents the pizza from getting soggy, so the end result is a crispy, delicious pie.

§         The pizza stone can be used to bake pizza and pie crusts.  The stone absorbs excess moisture and distributes heat evenly to make the crust light and crispy.

§         Once the pizza is done, a pizza peel (a wooden shovel-like tool) can be used to insert and remove the mesh from the oven.  The peel also doubles as a tool to cut and serve pizza. 

 
Other key features include a power indicator light, a 30-minute timer with audible ready signal and a removable crumb tray.  For added convenience, the top of the unit functions as a plate warmer.
